The Lady in Question Is ......( LADY ELAINE)

Who was the lily maid of Astolat .... She Died Of Unrequited love of Sir Lancelot of Camelot .... She Died Of A Broken Heart. (IT'S A LONG STORY) anyhow>>
ELAINE'S 'Tragic story, was the inspiration behind Mallory's Le Morte d' Arthur, & Tennyson's. Idylls of Kings...& his Poem .. The Lady of Shallott.
The Painting is entitled 'ELAINE' & was painted C1921..in the Pre-raphaelite style - by the british Artist & Sculptor Edward Frampton (Who mainly painted Religious Subjects,and later on decorated churches ). I don't know who the model was...(she does look like elizabeth siddall,who was Rossetti's wife-and model for him- and other artists of the Pre-raphaelites).
It is all about Arthurian Legends Grandine,which the Pre-Raph school of artists were OBSESSED WITH (as IS MRS KRAP !!)..& Medievil times & Symbolism...etc.)In the painting Elaine is guarding Sir Lancelots shield.......that is usually how ELAINE is depicted in art.; mercoledì, novembre 25, 2009
