I was very sad to hear on the news this morning, of the death of the Film Star 'Patrick Swayze' at the young age of 57.I'm sure we all knew he was battling pancreatic cancer for a couple of years or so now.
He always seemed to come across on chat shows etc..as a thorougly decent and lovely modest man.He shunned the glitz and glamour of hollywood, and preferred to live on his large ranch, with his wife of 34 years Lisa; to whom he was totally devoted.
He was an expert horseman-a pilot & trained dancer & sung beautifully too. He was at times embarrassed to be thought of as a 'sex symbol' to millions of women across the world.
As we all know I'm sure..The film 'dirty dancing' catapulted him to fame.(I have to say I LOVED that film..especially the song...I HAD, the time of my life).
The Iconic scene (pictured above) in the film GHOST ,with Demi Moore... has been voted one of the 'top love scenes ever' .... for many years now.
Patrick loved & insisted on doing all his own stunts in his action movies, and at times was injured very seriously.Apparently, he spent an awful lot of his life in Pain.
He had also battled alcoholism.
He fought his terrible illness with fortitude and great courage and refused to give into it.
At least he is not suffering anymore.
A great actor ,& human being...who will be sadly missed by all.
RIP +

Very sorry to hear of his death. Not long ago i saw him in an interview where he was talking about his cancer, and how he wasnt going to give into it. I thought he was going to make it.
Sad.
yes I remember his first movie,'dirty dancing' and I liked it very much
Maggs it would have been a miracle love ,if he had somehow managed to survive much longer with Pancreatic Cancer.only about 5% survival rate...honestly..I have nursed people with it,and have lost friends through it...deep sigh. It's a terrible killer. He amazed his doctors though Patrick, by living a lot longer than predicted...from first being diagnosed..so in a way he did create a miracle with his determination to beat it,and it worked for a while...Poor Lad.One day there will more hope with this kind of disease, breakthroughs are being made all the time..as i'm sure you know, due to dedicated -painstaking -research.
Yes 'THE BEST'...IT WAS/IS/ A SUPER FILM....i have seen it so many times over the years...i love it!The music is so good in it..it just lifts you up and off the settee...and DANCING.! EVEN if you have 2 left feet ...i have only the right foot working properly at the moment....that's another story..about my poor left foot.
