Miami Swim Fashion Week Cruise 2010: V Del Sol
Glamorous and exotic—that was the look of the V Del Sol Cruise 2010 collection. Veronique de la Cruz, a former Miss France, debuted her four year old swim collection on July 19 the closing night of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim. “This has been my dream come true,” said de la Cruz, creative director and co-founder of V Del Sol. “But I felt the pressure because I am closing the Mercedes-Benz fashion show, which is an honor for me and I wanted to make sure the collection is outstanding,” she said. De la Cruz said her style originates from her native country Guadeloupe where swimwear itself is a culture. “I have a certain style from the beach to the bar to the party,” de la Cruz explained. “I believe in glamour and I believe in beauty,” she said.
The inspiration for the collection came from her travels around the world. Prints ranged from soft florals to graffiti, plaids and bold graphics inspired by Scotland, Guadeloupe, Brazil and India.
There were plenty of sophisticated second skin bikinis and glamorous monokinis with jeweled details. And de la Cruz presented chic resort wear such as a colorful graphic tunic, a black sheer chiffon dress and a white pantsuit to complete the glam look. —N. Jayne Seward
