Word of the day :phallus , dedicated to Mrs Krap

Dear mrs Krap 'phallus' and 'penis', which is very polite (vagina is polite as well) , are slightly different things. While the penis, is the real thing, generally speaking the phallus is a representational symbol of the real thing.In anatomy it stands for the sexually undifferentiated tissue in an embryo that becomes the penis or clitoris (clito or clitty,colloquial expressions); in mythology a representation of the penis and testes as an embodiment of generative power.Enormous phalli were carried around during the Greek festivities dedicated to Dionysus or Bacchus . In psychoanalisis The immature penis considered as the libidinal object of infantile sexuality in the male. You cannot go in a pub and ask an attractive man " let me see your phallus' he may be either confused or answer 'yes if you let me see yours' in that case you would be confused as you thought that only the penis can be called phallus.In italian it is the same thing' fallo' for some reasons that I do not know ( I cannot know everything!) 'fallo' in Italian means also 'mistake' or violation of a rule ' fallo di mano' in the football jergon refers to the violated rule of touching the ball with hands, allowed only to goalkeepers within an area. If 'fallo' means 'mistake' I would rather be wrong and have two mistakes then be right without having a phallus at all !!!!
